Meditation, Mo-Tsu (490-403BCE)

Mo-Tzu believed in getting it done
See the craftsman and the amateur
See how they both can measure and cut?

See how all it takes
Is a bit of thought
And a good set of tools?

See how morality doesn’t
Come from the sky?
See how morality does and doesn’t
Come from tradition?

See how all it takes
Is a bit of thought
And a good set of tools?

Traditions, families, kingdoms we can flee
Nature, we never can
See how one is variable and the other not?

See how all it takes
Is a bit of thought
And a good set of tools?

It is not evil but different
Judgments that lead
To argument, violence, war
Mo-Tzu believed in thinking this through

We don’t have to say it’s true
Only that it’s there
And find the way
Find the way to beneficence

In us, in families, in the world

See how all it takes
Is a bit of thought
And a good set of tools?

"What set of tools shall I choose, Mother?" asked the young boy.

The weary Mother thought a moment, and replied, "I hear Black & Decker is quite good."
